Mission: Since its formation in 1978, it is the mission of Bay Aging to help people as they age to live independently and safely in our communities. Bay Aging serves 7,691 seniors age 60 and older. The communities served by the Agency have the highest proportions of persons over the age of 60 in the state and greater proportions of persons with low incomes and who are over the age of 75 than in the norm for the Commonwealth's counties.
Programs: Veteran's community living and aging programs serving 10 counties in virginia. These programs include congregate and home delivered meals, 10 active life style centers, 600 volunteers serving the retired senior volunteer program (rsvp), in home care giving programs, senior employment programs, 2 adult day break facilities and many other related activites. Persons served over 5,000.
bay transit provides public transportation for "all people of all ages". Serving 12 virginia counties we have provided over 160,000 rides. This transportation allows clients to travel to and from work, medical appointments, shopping, legal appointments, education, local government offices and much more.
weatherization program and low income home energy assistance program - working to make homes in 10 virginia counties more energy efficient. Serving over 350 persons.
care transitions intervention - a health coaching and intervention program available for patients who have been hospitalized for serious and usually chronic conditions.
