Programs: Education: the gap senior high is an accredited, comprehensive diploma program emphasizing the acquisition of strong basic and academic skills as well as development of artistic, cultural, and recreational strengths and interests. A continuum of job readiness, career awareness and post- secondary planniing services are provided. Sixty-nine students were served by the alternative high school with seven seniors graduating. The extended day/extended year program is designed to offer young adolescents a safe, structured environment in which to learn and grow. Students take their normal six classes daily and participate in enrichment activities after school and during the summer; transportation home is provided. Esl and literacy classes are provided. One-hundred- ninety participated for the year. Our y. A. L. E (young adults learning & earning) program recruits young adults ages 19 - 24 to help them obtain a high school diploma or ged while pursuing a job skills certification, with the goal of job placement after graduation. One-hundred-fifty-six were in the program with seventy-three graduating. The adult education program targets spanish-speaking adults; however, adults speaking any language are welcome. Five levels of english as a second language and ged preparation in spanish and literacy classes in spanish are offered year-round. Social support services are offered as well as referral for citizenship and immigration services. In addition, students receive extensive technical training in technology two evenings a week. One-hundred-nineteen individuals were served in the adult literacy program.

youth employment: job readiness training is provided with various funding and provides a continuum of job readiness experiences including job shadowing, on-the-job-training, job placement, and post-secondary planning. Two hundred twenty-five students were provided with employment services.

counseling: youth and family services: counselors address barriers to school success. Services provided include counseling, meditation and conflict resolution, family support, court advocacy, case management, outreach, and referral. Six hundred forty-two students were served in the youth and family services counseling program. These services are also offered at several other schools off site in the twin city area. Apoyo familiar (the familiy program)offers a comprehensive array of services to students who are pregnant or parenting. An on site child care center is licensed for 15 infant/toddler aged children. A counselor provides individual case management. Students/parents participate in the creation of developmental goals with their child and learn effective parenting skills. Four students were provided service in child care counseling. Youth and family services: counselors address barriers to school success.
