Mission: The organization was formed to broaden the career horizons of school aged students, improve their ability to compete successfully in the work world, and sharpen their academic skills.
Programs: Student tutoring - serviced 75 children grades k-12 monday's and wednesday's september thru may. Certified teachers from polk county schools taught 4 hours per week, preparing children for fcat as well as specialized training in science and math. Each session was structured to provide help with homework followed by intense test preparation.
student leadership - serviced 40 youth grades 5-12 on saturday's september thru june. Volunteers from the professional community of polk county provided 3 hour cluster training sessions with specific focus on 'leadership skills'. Each session was structured to provide help with public speaking, etiquette, conflict resolution, finance, peer pressure, and health.
