Programs: Tournament:the farmers insurance open was played january 25-28, 2018 at historic torrey pines golf course, host site of the 2008 & 2021 u. S. Opens. The farmers insurance open consistently attracts a world-class field. This is the 66th year a pga tour event has been held in san diego, beginning with the san diego open in 1952. For 56 straight years, century club has been the local non-profit organization for the tournament. The 2018 tournament also marks the 51st time the event is being held at torrey pines golf course, and the eighth year of farmers insurance sponsorship of the tournament. To ensure successful onsite operation of the event, each year, century club recruits and trains more than 1,000 volunteers who come from the san diego region, as well as from all over the united states and abroad. Century club utilizes the resources and awareness generated by the event to create and support additional charitable programs that benefit the military community, local 501(c)(3) organizations, schools and school enrichment and support organizations.
community support:champions for youth:through an in-depth application and interview process, century club selects san diego charities that provide direct services to at-risk youth and their families for participation in champions for youth. Once charities are selected, century club works with each charity to focus on improving the following three key challenge areas that century club has found to be common among charities: 1) donor engagement; 2) community awareness of the charity and causes they support; and 3) lack of resources. Champions for youth charities receive funding from a bonus pool based on how much they raise during a specific time window compared to the other participating organizations and how many donors contribute to their campaign during the specified time. The bonus pool not only provides charities with unrestricted dollars to assist with their mission, but the time-sensitive and competitive elements of the program enable charities to incentivize contributions from donors who understand that their donations will have an increased impact during this period. To facilitate and support their fundraising efforts, century club donates resources and time to provide each charity with fundraising and awareness tools to ensure successful program participation. Century club creates a customized online donation platform for each charity, for which it also covers all processing fees that a charity would normally incur through online fundraising. Additionally, century club creates and provides customized online and printed campaign marketing tools, individualized strategic campaign consulting and guidance, training and memorabilia and ticket packages to use to generate incremental funding and donor interest. In addition to the resources and funding provided, century club works to increase awareness of the participating charities and their causes in the san diego community. Century club does this in several ways - by hosting annual events with current and potential donors and supporters where the charities are showcased and have opportunities to share their story and collateral with guests, by including the charities in their media and outreach efforts, as well as by including the charities both in media and in-person onsite during century clubs largest annual event, which garners attendance of thousands of public annually. Additionally, century club creates presentation and service opportunities for charities to century club supporters to learn more about the participating charities. Through this program, century club supported 10 local charities for the year ended april 30, 2018. Support our san diego:support our san diego (s. O. S. D. ) provides schools, school support organizations and 501(c)(3) charities with fundraising tools and resources to assist participating organizations with filling budget gaps. These gaps can be created by budget cuts or highly restricted funding. Century club understands that budget gaps can result in organizations being forced to cut programs that are important to youth and community development. In response to this need, century club provides s. O. S. D. As an opportunity to ensure these organizations can continue to fund extracurricular activities and operating expenses needed to carry out the organizations missions, which ultimately strengthen the san diego community. Century club provides s. O. S. D. Organizations with tickets to the farmers insurance open to sell and then keep the majority of the revenue. Many of the participating organizations would not otherwise have a fundraising tool and often lack the staffing or expertise to implement such a program on their own, so in addition to the tickets, century club provides the participating organizations with sales collateral and outreach guidance to ensure their success in meeting their fundraising goals. The program supported over 60 schools and charities with $182,883 and $194,042 in support for the years ended april 30, 2018 and 2017, respectively. Military appreciation initiatives:century clubs military program provides active duty, reserve and retired military and their dependents with up to four (4) complimentary tickets to attend the farmers insurance open. This programs mission is to thank military families and to provide a memorable and unique experience to military families who experience the hardship of time apart and/or may not otherwise be able to afford such an experience together due to the high cost of living in san diego and often relatively low pay of military personnel. Additionally, century club builds an onsite hospitality venue exclusively for active duty military and their dependents onsite, called the patriots outpost. The active duty military and their families who attend the patriots outpost receive complimentary food and beverages throughout the day and enjoy unique views of the competition on the 13th hole. More than 8,500 complimentary tickets were provided to active duty, reserve and retired military and their dependents through the tournaments military ticket program and more than 1,000 military members were served in the patriots outpost in the year ended april 30, 2018. Auction package donations:each year, century club provides charities, schools and school-support organizations with in-kind ticket and unique golf experience package donations to be used at charity raffles and auctions as a fundraising tool. Along with these tickets or experiences, century club provides marketing tools to assist organizations with earning maximum funds from their donated package. The program supported more than 100 organizations in the year ended april 30, 2018.
