Causes: Health, Medical Disciplines Research
Mission: Ctvrf strives to enhance the health of veterans of all generations through research and education. We provide support to the research community within central texas veterans health care system in their research, education, and training endeavors to foster programs in health services and research that benefits the nation's veterans and the general public.
Programs: The primary tax exempt purpose of the central texas veterans research foundation, a 501(c)(3) medical research foundation established in accordan ce with title 38, subchapter iv - research and education corporations, section 7361-7368, is to support biomedical and clinical research as well as health related education activities in conjunction with the central texas veterans health care system (ctvhcs). Research sponsored by ctvrf benefits veterans treated at ctvhcs and the general public by advancing knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and disability. During the past year, ctvrf supported research in the following areas: lung and prostate cancer, multiple myeloma, post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd), liver diseases, infection control, and infectious disease. The research resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications and national presentations.
education programs supported by ctvrf help disseminate the results of research so that they may be translated to clinical practice, provide hospital staff with training in the latest treatments, and help patients understand and manage their medical conditions. Ctvrf provided continuing nursing education designed to provide advanced practice nurses with current, evidence-based information with respect to clinical manifestations, management, and pharmacological interventions for cardiovascular, pulmonary, and renal conditions. Ctvrf also supported nursing research day training on disaster recovery.
