Mission: Copc provides crucial services that support the first responder community of central oregon. Chaplains are on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to be dispatched to emergency calls including cardiac arrest, death notifications, fires, motor vehicle crashes, search and rescue missions, and other incidents involving all ages in our community. We also provide critical incident stress management training and debriefings to the first responder community and their families.
Programs: Twenty chaplains serving crook, deschutes, and jefferson counties are on-call 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Copc chaplains are dispatched to emergency calls including cardiac arrest, death notifications, fires, motor vehicle crashes, search and rescue missions, incidents involving infants and children and any other need in our communities. Copc chaplains provide confidential counseling and mentoring, hospital and home visits to assist with healing and support of community members and the regions first responders. Copc chaplains are constant figures in fire stations, police stations, jails, and dispatch centers. The paid chaplains manage the business of copc and provide monthly training to all volunteer chaplains. They can also be found around the state and northwest training other chaplain groups, law enforcement and fire personnel on critical incident stress management, defusings, and critical incident stress debriefings. Two of the staff chaplains are members of the international conference of police chaplains and are approved instructors with the international critical incident stress foundations. The main mission of copc is to build strong relationships with the first responders of central oregon and assist them during events and help them deal with the effects and stress of the incidents in a healthy manner.
