Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Human Services

Mission: We teach parents, educators, youth-service workers, communities and organizations how to engage the innate resilience—the human capacity for learning, creativity, compassion, common sense and well-being—in the youth they teach and care for, and, as importantly, in themselves … to become wise and loving role models for our children.

I have been involved with this beautiful organization since it's inception in 2004. The work before that date was known as Health Realization whose founder, the late Roger C. Mills, PhD, gained the support of foundations so that trainings and consultations might reach people living in disadvantaged communities. These projects produced amazing results including several awards and the book "Modello". The mission of the Center for Sustainable Change is to teach families, educators and communities how to engage innate resilience. I deeply respect the Center and feel that it will have a pivotal role in preventing violence in the schools and among youth.

I have been involved with the philosphy underlying this non-profit since before the formation of and the beginning of this particular application of the Three Principles as discovered and taught by Sydney Banks. Being a part of and observing the power of this philosophy in helping communities and underserved populations has been truly inspiring. The dedication and quality of the staff and volunteers is the best I have ever seen in the mental health and social services field in over 40 years of experience and education. I would like to see more help and professionalism in the financial aspects of running a non-profit. And that seems to be happening!

The Center for Sustainable Change works at the source - the source of our experience - where we create the lives that we live, both joyful & anxious, beautiful & fearful. The more people who can be touched by this understanding, the more peace we shall find in the world. Their work is priceless!

Being introduced to the work of Syd Banks over three years ago was life changing. I do not have a direct experience of The Centre For Sustainable Change yet but I have heard of their wonderful work and know many people involved in their work. Their philosophy and love of humanity in itself will change the world....

The beautiful & life-changing understanding that is lived, shared & taught through the incredible work that everyone at CSC does, is so profound that it has changed not only mine, but many hundreds of thousands of people's lives forever & communities living in despair & darkness have been transformed & empowered beyond recognition. The work carried out at CSC is incredibly important for the mental health & general wellbeing of every life they touch. It is an honour for me to feel connected with CSC & to make donations when I can & with extra funding they could continue their amazing work & change millions of lives forever.

I have been a psychologist for 37 years. For 25 years I was a colleague of the late Dr. Roger Mills, founder of the Center for Sustainable Change. I learned first hand from Dr. Mills about the remarkable transformation that happened in the communities he was working in. Then I was impressed reading the articles in professional journals that documented changes that seemed miraculous. But I was most moved when I heard the amazing stories from the residents themselves of these communities as they shared how they became empowered to transform their dysfunctional communities into healthy ones. The Center for Sustainable Change carries on this work and continues its remarkable track record of unleashing the power of the human spirit to uplift people and communities.

Roger Mils began work in Santa Clara County in 1995 and since then those trained by him have helped transform the lives of thousands (yes thousands) of people in the jails, substance abuse rehabilitation programs, homeless shelters, the dual diagnosed, schools, and communities at risk. His worked based on the teachings of Sydney Banks is the most amazing transformative change agent I have ever know. I know because I was the director of the program in Santa Clara County that carried on the work started by Roger. CSC is the amazing little engine that is leading transformative change Amazing is the only way to describe this work.

The non-profit Center for Sustainable Change founded by Roger Mills has made a huge impact in communities at risk over the years sharing the basic Principles behind life evoking an understanding of our true nature.

CSC could train many hundreds of people at low or no fees, reach deep into troubled communities with the good news of relief from struggles of addiction, domestic violence, delinquency... The work they are doing in Charlotte NC schools right now is phenomenal!
