Programs: Leadership training program: unique for its rigor, length, and standards, the monastic academy program creates awakened leaders trained in wisdom, love and power. In 2017 residents took on more leadership, one becoming executive director and another training to become the next head teacher. A 2-track system for modern monastic training was initiated. 7 residents joined the residency, and an intern system was started. 4 residents deepened their commitment through lay ordination. A location for a second center in san francisco was acquired. Residents trained in the valuable skill of fundraising, to support the organization long-term and to enable them to succeed in their future calling.
guest offerings:the acquisition of a stunning 123-acre retreat facility raised the guest program to new heights. The monastic academy continued to expand its visionary model of professional stays. Combining the wisdom and love of traditional monasticism with the power and impact of entrepreneurship, remote workers, two of whom stayed for over two months, integrated deep mindfulness into professional and personal projects. Other guest offerings included retreats in the new property's solo cabins, a native american vision quest, offerings at other locations, and week-long, weekend, and afternoon meditation retreats with teachers soryu forall and shinzen young.
