Causes: Developmentally Disabled Centers, Disabilities, Human Services
Mission: Cast was founded in 1984 to expand opportunities for individuals with disabilities through innovative uses of computer technology.
Programs: Cast also works to help restructure schools using innovative computer technology to ensure that no child with a disability be excluded from mainstream education because of inaccessible teaching and learning materials. Cast developed a national model for inclusion of students with disabilities into mainstream classrooms. Cast also conducted research with a small group of individuals, who represent millions of others who have learning disabilities, physical challenges or multiple handicaps. One of Casts recent accomplishments was co-developing with Scholastic "Wiggleworks: The Scholastic Beginning Literacy System," a commercially successful universally-designed curriculum that is accessible to all students, including those with disabilities.
