Mission: The cascadia region earthquake workgroup is a coalition of private and public representatives working together to improve the ability of cascadia region communities to reduce the effects of major earthquakes. Its purpose is to: promote efforts to reduce the loss of life and property; conduct education efforts to motivate key decision makers to reduce risks associated with earthquakes; and foster productive linkages among scientists, critical infrastructure providers, businesses, and governmental agencies in order to improve the viability of communities after an earthquake event.
Programs: Crew is a coalition of public, private, academic, and nonprofit organization representatives working together to assist cascadia region communities, businesses, and homeowners to prepare for, mitigate potential damages of, and recover from the effects of earthquakes, tsunami's, and other natural hazards. In fiscal year 2016/2017, crew developed three new information worksheets focused towards the hospital sector, hosted mass-care workshops in oregon and washington, developed and released the pnw earthquake early warning education outreach and training strategy, supported the annual great national shakeout for both oregon and washington, participated in the development of an earthquake early warning coordinator for the state of washington, and updated a strategic planning process.
