Mission: To provide free medical care and community development assistance to the indigenous people in Guatemala’s highlands.
Programs: Teams traveled to surrounding communities of guatemala and installed a total of 133 highly efficient wood stoves, including 2 institutional stoves in 2 elementary schools. The teams also installed 152 water filters to bring clean water to the people and communities, and 19 of these water filters were installed in 4 different elementary schools. A total of 1,936 mayans were treated by the 166 cascade medical team volunteers, who provided free medical and dental care. Of those treated, there were 213 surgeries performed. The teams also instructed 45 comadronas (midwives).
