Causes: Health
Mission: The mission of the CarolinaEast Foundation is to promote health in our region, support the healthcare community, assist individuals with healthcare needs.
Target demographics: The CarolinaEast Foundation strives to help meet the wellness needs through funding, support and grants for a variety of health care concerns and programs.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In fiscal year 2015, 28 local health-care initiatives were funded with grants totaling $219,886. Each initiative supported hundreds of local people. The Foundation's patient assistance program helped 540 local patients in FY 2015 with real-life, immediate needs incurred by a healthcare challenge to include daily assistance, gas cards for transportation, prescription medication, wheelchair ramps, diabetic supplies and much more. A community diabetes program is open to the public.
Geographic areas served: Since 1996, the Foundation has extended the gift of wellness to individuals, families and other nonprofit healthcare organizations in Craven, Jones, Pamlico, Carteret and Onslow counties.
Programs: The gift of wellness to the community is made possible in many ways: the Foundation's non-profit grant program, patient assistance program, community diabetes education program, and nursing scholarships.
