Mission: The connecticut housing investment fund (chif) supports the creation and sustainability of affordable housing by providing responsive financial products and services.
Programs: Chif is a state-wide non profit cdfi established in 1968 whose primary purpose is to increase affordable housing opportunities for income restricted residents. Chif offers three major services; mortgage lending through its community loan pool, loan servicing and third party contract administration. Chif's loan servicing business services loans for 22 portfolio clients comprised of four major loan types with more than 50 different loan programs. As of september 30 2014 chif serviced 16,488 loans with a total principal balance of approximately $240,800,000. For over 40 years chif has provided third party administration for state funded and other municipal programs including the state of ct energy conservation loan program which provides energy efficiency loans to ct residents and the state of ct's utility companies home energy solutions program which also provides energy loans to ct residents. Certified by the us treasury as a community development financial institution, (cdfi), chif is distinguished from other connecticut regional housing loan funds by the loan products it offers, the services it provides and the geographic territory it serves.
