Causes: Education, Literacy, Remedial Reading & Encouragement
Mission: Language and literacy development begin in the first months of life. Children from poor neighborhoods, children with limited proficiency in English, and children whose parents had difficulty learning to read are particularly at risk of entering schools with weaknesses in emergent literacy skills and of falling behind from the outset. Few parents reach out for help from experts and it is a national challenge to reach parents with literacy information and support.
