As a long time donor and supporter of the Needy Fund, I am happy knowing my contributions are going directly back into the community in which I live. Although many non profits exist today with admirable and valuable mission statements, not all are focused on only helping my neighbors. They say "Charity begins at home". This is one of the main reasons why I continue to support them.
I went back to Suffolk University as an adult learner, graduating in January 2015. At the end of January of that year, I was diagnosed with a DVT blood clot that initiated a PE in my lung, which intern, they connected to leukemia. I needed help with bills, and received help from Cape Cod Needy Fund. But that help turned into a nightmare, when several months later they fabricated my story in the Cape Cod Times. I was a journalism, communication major, and a veteran. In the story, I went to law school, and was Vietnam Vet. As I live in a small Cape Cod town, and with many Suffolk grads living and working on the Cape, ( some as my professors) I immediately started to draw attention from this fabrication. It has destroyed my life.
