Causes: Cancer
Mission: The lydia project, inc. (the "organization") provides free services to women and girls anywhere facing any type of cancer. This support includes ongoning correspondence and encouragement every month for at least twelve months. The organization grants funds for past due rent, utilities, medical supplies, prescription assistance, and transportation to medical appointments for georgia and south carolina csra counties' women and girls who are unable to afford these basic expenses while receiving ongoing cancer treatment. The organization also provides women and teenage girls free overnight stay at the daksha chudgar lydia house while they are receiving cancer treatment or testing and cannot afford hotels to be near cancer treatment. Lydia's ten bedroom facility with twenty beds provides a retreat environment, meals, transportation to cancer treatment, and a support network for these women and teenage girls who are receiving cancer treatments, along with their caregivers.
Programs: The lydia house - lydia provides lodging services free of charge to women and girls needing overnight stay in order to be near cancer treatment. Lodging services include transportation to medical appointments, meals and lydia's hospitality. Lydia provided 1,309 lodging nights in 2017. Lydia also provided 592 transportation trips to medical treatment in 2017.
emergency relief services - the lydia project provides funding for transportation to medical appointments, to stop utility disconnects, provides prescription cost and medical supply assistance to georgia and south carolina csra counties' women and girls fighting cancer. Payments are made directly to vendors and provide hope to patients and families overwhelmed by the cancer diagnosis. Lydia provided $25,503 in emergency relief service funds in 2017.
outreach services - the lydia project provides outreach to women fighting cancer and their caregivers through ongoing correspondence and encouragement, every month for at least twelve months. Lydia provided 15,184 outreach contacts in 2017.
