Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: To advocate and provide support for the prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship of cancer through patient assistance, education, and research.
Programs: Health care costs in the united states continue to be a significant contributor to financial strain on american families. Medical debt is increasingly cited as a cause of bankruptcy and as high rates of unemployment continue, medical debt is likely to grow. Many struggling low-income patients and families cannot afford the cost of their co-payments, deductibles, and other essential support services that ensure the highest possible outcome before or after a cancer diagnosis. In response to this overwhelming need, patient assistance programs ("pap") are often established and administered by nonprofit organizations. Pharmaceutical companies began establishing patient assistance program many years ago, but patient assistance programs for the other support services, like meals, transportation, medical equipment and supplies, are hard to find. The cancer resource foundation, inc. Is committed to assisting patients, families and caregivers to find the critical support services they need. Through the website and resource network, crf can link people to the most appropriate programs and services they are looking for. Crf is able to provide direct financial assistance through its genetic testing assistance program. As one of the only genetic testing co-pay assistance programs in the country, crf is able to help people at risk or those with a diagnosis of cancer, gain access to genetic testing. These genetic test results can impact their cancer treatment, preventative services and on-going medical management recommended by their doctor. The cancer resource foundation provides vouchers for genetic testing to massachusetts residents who qualify. Our other financial assistance programs are the all4one programs. These programs provide support to women affected by breast cancer. The breast form fund provides financial help for breast prosthesis, all4one garment fund provides financial help for pocketed bras and garments, the all4one lymphedivas program provides a free compression sleeve and gauntlet for those suffering from lymphedema. The all4one bfflco program provides a free radiation bra for those undergoing radiation treatments. These funds were created through a partnership with organizations that are committed to the same cause. By working together, crf is able to make a difference in the lives of women recovering from breast cancer. The cancer resource foundation is also in partnership with zero the end of prostate cancer (zero). Together the 2 organizations are able to provide prostate cancer support through research, education and advocacy. Crf works with zero to produce a fundraising event in massachusetts. Zero is the fiscal agent for this event.
