Mission: The mission of cancer connection is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by cancer through practical, emotional and spiritual support. At the heart of this cancer care network is the mission of offering hope to newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families by matching them in one on one mentoring relationships and by providing resources as a part of our visitation programs to area hospitals and oncology treatment centers.
Programs: During the fiscal year 2009, cancer connection's 250 trained volunteers touched the lives of cancer patients and their families over 5,000 times. The nature of the contacts included one on one long term mentoring relationship, visits to cancer patients and their family members in 4 austin area hospitals and 5 austin area oncology treatment centers, and providing assistance in securing resources such as rides to treatment, durable medical equipment, and financial aid.
