Mission: The camp rainbow foundation ("camp rainbow") is dedicated to providing free camping experiences to children undergoing treatment for, and survivors of, cancer and other blood-related diseases and disorders. We provide a recreational and nurturing environment for campers and their families where the children can create positive memories, build self-esteem, make new friends and are relieved of the everyday stresses caused by their illness.
Programs: Teen camp rainbow is a weekend camping experience for teens with cancer or blood related disorders. Activities include bowling, nature hikes, games, movies, and challenge courses. The campers cook meals and take a leadership role in some of the activities.
summer camp is a one week sleep over camping experience for children age 6-13 with cancer or blood related disorders. Activities include archery, arts and crafts, fishing, sports, swimming, acting, and cooking. There is also a mini day camp rainbow for 4 and 5 year olds. Mini camp is held at the same time from 9am to 3pm. These campers participate in the appropriate activites such as arts and crafts, drama, music, nature activities, sports, swimming, and more.
family camp is held annually at ymca trout lodge in potosi, missouri over labor day weekend. This camp provides the whole family with the opportunity to bond and share feelings, but most importantly to let loose and have fun. Families can participate in a variety of activities which include exploring the outdoors, arts and crafts, horseback riding, archery, boating, carnivals, and much more.
