I am a camper turned counselor. I started attending Camp of Dreams when I was just in fifth grade. Now, my sophomore year in college, I like to still try to be as involved as possible. Camp of Dreams is a great place for kids to get out, meet friends, and experience new things. If there is an activity that is not provided that a camper will like to try, the board and volunteers tries their best to bring it. I can say personally, I was never bored. Camp kept me on my toes and very active. It also taught me some very valuable lessons on living on my own and becoming more independent. I find myself finding task that I would be clueless on how to handle if it wasn't for me going to camp. But I think what is more important is the friendly and family orientated environment. I have met so many amazing people while attending camp for so long. Some of the friends I have met I consider more than just that. They are my best friends my sisters.
ChristinaS. I am a parent of two daughters ages 17 and 10. I started bringing my daughters to the Camp when my eldest was 12. At the time I was looking for an affordable after school program that offered not only fun but academics. I can truly say I have found an affordable high quality affordable camp in the Camp of Dreams. My eldest daughter, since her involvement with the Camp, has blossomed into an independent high-achiever high school senior with a current GPA 4.0. I am hoping that my youngest daughter will benefit from the same disciplined qualities my eldest has received from the Camp.
Camp of Dreams offers a great variety of innovative programs and activities that keep both my son and dauther engaged. The Saturday enrichment program which is due to resume for fall was extremely convenient, and worth the time. This program proved to be perfect vehicle in which my kids could learn through hands-on activities, such as cooking, or creative problem-solving which included a forensics workshop. My son attended the 3 week away camp in Michigan last summer and has not stopped talking about it! I wish more families were aware of this quality program. There are so many ways we parents and our children can be involved.
Great program! They provide a positive environment and teach kids all types of creative skills along with some academics. I worked with them as a counselor in their first years and have watched it grow since then. The staff and directors are great and the campers love camp. I am now a teacher and if there were a Camp of Dreams in my city I would definitely recommend for my students to go.
