Causes: Energy Resources Conservation & Development, Environment
Mission: We support entrepreneurs to drive innovation and build equity into the clean economy.
Results: In partnership with California Clean Energy Fund Ventures and California Clean Energy Fund Catalyst, we have leveraged $1.5 billion in investment, supported over 100 clean energy enterprises, and launched industry-leading centers for solution collaboration.
Target demographics: diverse entrepreneurs drive innovation and build equity in the clean energy economy.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Thirty clean energy businesses in California--and dozens more through our worldwide accelerator network--to develop clean energy solutions that will ultimately benefit all of humanity and the natural world.
Geographic areas served: the state of California and worldwide. Currently CalCEF focuses its global work in Southeast Asia because this is a high-stakes region in the global fight to slow climate change.
Programs: Explorer in Residence (XIR): supports diverse entrepreneurs with a financial launch pad and mentorship to develop clean energy business concepts. New Energy Nexus: works to support clean, smart, and distributed energy startups worldwide. CalSEED: funded by the state of California and provides the friends and family funding resources that most equity entrepreneurs do not have access to (administered through our affiliate entity CalCEF Ventures).
