Causes: Philanthropy, Public Foundations
Mission: To support charitable entities, organizations and activities within skagit county that benefit and improve the welfare of the skagit county area in washington state. In addition, the organization will support, on an international level, activities with the same goals in various places across the globe.
Programs: International project alliance - area rotary groups combining donations and volunteers to coordinate humanitarin projects in copan ruinas, honduras. Projects focus on rotary's areas of focus; promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education and growing local economies. Activities included providing school computeres, roofs, furniture, supplies (through adopt-a-school),after school food programs, water projects and restroom facilities, and supporting studentd through the adopt-a-dream program so they can continue their education beyond the sixth grade.
youth engaged in service - an international service program for youth that are in their eleventh year in school. Selected students must commit to 80 hours of community service during the year, attend monthly leadership meetings, plan their international service project and be able to present the project in spanish. At the end of the year, students travel on an international humanitarian project. The program is designed to promote service as a worthy endeavor among local youths.
scholarships - each year the foundation funds scholarships for local youth graduating from burlington-edison highschool. This promotes education for the youth of our community.
