In addition, bcnha provides personnel to help with informational contacts in support of visitor center operations. Over one and a half million visitors are served annually. During the calendar year of 2016, bcnha excelled in several mission related areas. Primary donation support was directed to printing the widely distributed park newspaper known as the "hoodoo". The hoodoo is printed in spring/summer and fall/winter editions and contains valuable information on park resources and seasonal interpretive programming. The popular jr. Ranger program is supported by annual bcnha donations in the form of program booklets and certificate of accomplishment printing. A special badge is also produced and given on accomplishment of program requirements. Funding support is also provided for the annual astronomy and geology festivals. These summertime events attract over 10,000 participants annually. In addition, support is given to fund resource protection intiatives such as the adopt-a-prairie dog program, geological investigations and student internships. The education outreach program supported by bcnha contacted over 1,000 students through a variety of in- classroom and in-park programs.
