Causes: Education, Two-Year Colleges
Mission: The mission of the bristol community college foundation is to obtain financial support to enhance the ability of bristol community college to meet the lifelong educational needs of the growing and changing communities it serves. The foundation is operated by the resource development office of the college, and encompasses the alumni association. The foundation raises funds through an annual giving campaign, state and local grants, and fundraising events. The foundation administers an extensive scholarship program, campus grants for faculty and staff, holds and maintains property, provides emergency student loans, and merit based student awards.
Programs: Program funding: the foundation provides significant support for programs at bristol community college. During the current fiscal year the foundation provided $614,404,for: luso centro interpreter program, health sciences programs, attleboro center, new bedford campus, fall river campus, taunton literacy, the center for teaching and learning, dental hygiene programs,student math league,the grimshaw-gudewicz art gallery, fall river cultural council theater grants and dual enrollment.
scholarships and awards: the foundation awarded $197,017 in financial awards and scholarships to 316 deserving students in this fiscal year.
college grants: the bcc foundation awarded $90,920 in grants encompassing 57 projects during the current fiscal year. These grants are requested by faculty and staff to fund special programs, speakers, professional conferences and equipment that can no longer be funded through the college operating budget.
attleboro campus: the foundation purchased and renovated real estate in attleboro, massachusetts to provide campus facilities for the use of the college or other educational component unit of the commonwealth of massachusetts. Gross rents and respective expenses are reported at part viii, 6.
