Causes: Community Improvement & Capacity Building
Mission: To educate and promote building relationships and collaborations. Endeavoring to create substantial change and betterment in communities, including without limitation, addressing and alleviating poverty within communities,
Programs: Education - introduces consistent wording about volunteering that infuses social justice and equity. Numbers served are 700 for poverty simulations, workshops, training and other presentations. Conducted 13 workshops on flipping the approach to volunteering serving 174 persons. 24 members of the community volunteered time to conduct these worshops. Hosted an event at spirit and place wiht 80 people in attendance. Utilized the services of 12 volunteers in this statewide event. Also sent two presenters to the point of light conference . They presented to 110 participants of the conference.
example - weekly meetings of circles indianapolis to develop intentional friendships through matching of allies and circle leaders. Goal is to equip under-resourced individuals to become self-sufficient. Average count for weekly meeting is 50 for a total of 2,500 attendees at our weekly community meals and resource meeting. Conducted seven poverty simulations, where we simulate what it is like to live in poverty, so the participants understand the reason our community acts as a resource. Impacted 1,040 participants and utilized 215 volunters. This event changes peoples view of poverty based on our surveys and feedback we receive. We have also utilized two americorps staff. We give a person a chance to work with our community and to earn valuable life experience. Launched a chapter in a neighboring county to spread the message.
