Mission: Bread of life african ministries contributes to the physical and spiritual livelihood of vulnerable persons living in africa. With special emphasis on children in uganda, we provide homes for abandoned and orphaned children and in-home assistance to children and families in need.
Programs: Bread of life african ministries (bolam) continued operating keirungi children's village in southwest uganda four miles from kabale town on kisoro road. At keirungi, the organization took in a teenage girl and brought back two girls who had been resettled with an aunt but were not doing well. At the end of the year, 19 children (11 boys and 8 girls) ranging in age from 4 to 13 years old were staying at keirungi children's village. Since opening in 2010, a total of 30 children have stayed at keirungi. Five children have been resettled with family members (two girls with their grandmothers, two boys with their mother, and one boy with his father) and six children have been adopted. With the change in ugandan adoption laws in 2016 making it more difficult for foreigners to adopt, the organization no longer actively pursued international adoption. Bolam employed nine staff members in uganda: an assistant director; two full-time house mothers and an assistant house mother; two agriculturalists (one who also served as property manager); an administrator; a part-time driver; and a part-time accountant. Keirungi also had a social work volunteer who mentored the children and provided reports on their development.
through its client services program, bread of life african ministries (bolam) continued assisting 10 children and youth in the community with school fees and supplies, clothing, and other basic necessities. The organization also continued providing rent and food assistance to a single mother whose boys had stayed at keirungi when she was severely ill, along with food and other home essentials to a foster mom whose children the organization supports to attend school.
