Causes: Boys & Girls Clubs, Children & Youth
Mission: To provide a fun, safe place that kids can call their own, where they are inspired to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
Programs: In 2017, the boys & girls club had 1,367 total youth participants, which included 581 club members and 786 other youth served. Results for programs promoting academic success: last year, 364 youth participated in a total of 3,250 hours of homework and educational activities at the club, with a breakout as follows: --torch club and keystone club leadership programs: 22 members participated; --youth of the month/year leadership program: 74 members participated; --junior staff program: 22 members participated; --leaders in training program: 16 members participated; continued on schedule o-- --power hour homework help program: 194 members participated, with an average of 60 youth for daily attendance; --related programs including summer brain gain (208 youth participants), project learn (364 youth participants), and technology-related activities (285 youth participants). Results for programs promoting good character & citizenship: bgclpc was quite successful in this program area as well. A total of 288 club youth participated in programs to build their character while also positively engaging with their community. Youth participated in several such programs, including torch club, keystone club, junior torch club, and positive action programs. Through these programs, the club offered a total of 3,875 hours of character and leadership activities for youth. Results for programs promoting healthy lifestyles: a total of 415 members participated in programs to promote healthy lifestyles which included the following programs: spark, smart moves kids in the kitchen, and garden club. The combination of these specific programs resulted in youth spending 4,100 hours in health/fitness programs at the club.
