Mission: The mission of the boyle county agency for substance abuse policy is to develop short and long-term strategies and resources which effectively reduce the incidence of smoking and other tobacco use, alcohol misuse and alcohol use disorders, and illegal drug use and drug use disorders in boyle county, kentucky.
Programs: Drug treatment transportation and program fee assistance: transportation to treatment facilities was provided to 20 residents of boyle and surrounding counties. Drug treatment costs were paid directly to the treatment providers for 27 residents of boyle and surrounding counties.
harm reduction and prevention training: approximately 137 individuals attended harm reduction overdose response training. The training was hosted four times during the fiscal year to general community audiences, as well as targeted groups, such as faith leaders and the medical reserve corps.
prescription drug drop off and syringe exchange program: two drug drop off boxes were provided at the boyle county courthouse and danville city hall for use during normal business hours. Boyle county residents have been using them at increasing rates to rid their homes of over-the-counter medications and outdated/unused prescription medications. A syringe exchange program provided cost-free clean syringes and related supplies to the public to prevent disease. The syringe program served approximately twenty unduplicated persons.
