Bon Secours-St Francis Xavier Hospital Inc

Programs: Bon secours st. Francis hospital traces its origins back to 1882 when five sisters of charity of our lady of mercy opened st. Francis infirmary in downtown charleston as the first catholic hospital in the state. Bon secours st. Francis now is affiliated with the bon secours health system, inc. And has relocated to an expansive oak-graced campus west of the ashley river. Bon secours st. Francis contributed $15. 4 million in community benefit in 2016. This benefit included charity care, unreimbursed medicaid, numerous sponsorships and community outreach programs (see schedule h for additional details). Overall, the hospital contributed 6,200 volunteer staff hours for activities such as health fairs, career days and public programs that benefited nearly 7,000 individuals in the community. Francis hospital made this year for patients include: opening two new operating rooms with advanced imaging capabilities; and becoming the first in south carolina to offer vbloc therapy, a lifelong, weight loss solution that blocks hunger signals between the brain and stomach.
