Mission: The Bomber Girls LRC is an ALL female motorcycle organization, formed in 2007. Our dedication to proudly support our military personnel and their families is well grounded and through shipping care packages to our Heroes, is 'world famous.'
Results: The Bomber Girls started out in 2007, 4 chicks on bikes (and a couple on rollerskates) wanting to do something to support our troops. We tried raising money for the USO, and they didn’t want us. Then we tried raising money for the Fischer House, and they didn’t want us either. We finally decided, we didn’t need anyone else, we would send care packages to our friends who were deployed. We held our first poker run in May of that year, on Armed Forces Day. And so it began. In 2007, there were 7 soldiers on our mailing list, and we sent out 21 boxes. $250 in postage. In 2008, there were 9 soldiers on our list, and we shipped out 36 boxes. $423 in postage. In 2009, our list grew to 28 soldiers, and 160 boxes went out. $1900 in postage. In 2010, we had 35 soldiers on our list, and we thought we had lost our minds. We shipped out 270 boxes. $3500 in postage. In 2011, 85 soldiers and 2 FOB special need adoptions on our list made us laugh and cry at the same time. 712 boxes went out, $9,200 in postage. If you had said to me in 2007, in 5 years you will be packing 328 boxes of cookies to send to 109 soldiers and paying $4,400 in postage, I would have laughed at you in disbelief. But that is just what has happened with the cookie drive alone this year. In the beginning, the soldiers we sent to were our friends, riding buddies, people we knew. As we have grown, so has the list, and we receive addresses from all over now. However, our list still has local roots.
Programs: We hold various fundraisers through out the year to send at least 5 mailings per year to deployed troops.
