Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs
Mission: The mission of the organization is to constructively impact the youth, families and community by a being positive influence on the young people within adair park/pittsburgh community in atlanta, ga. We will empower future leaders of this community through christ honoring relationships that encourage healthy choices, develop and affirm transforming relationships.
Programs: Organization provided annual community activities including summer camp week for 58 children, week long beach trip for high school youth and young moms group, twice monthly mothers support group for eight young moms between ages 17 and 22, sponsored a community flag football league for youth with four teams from area neighborhoods (championship game attended by over 150 community members), hosted thanksgiving dinner for approximately 150 mentors, students and neighbors,provided school uniforms and backpacks with school supplies for 80 students, provided college scholarship for one student, connected six student graduates with full or part time jobs, and partnered with a local elementary and high school to provide support and supplies throughout the year. The organization sponsors and supports 24 one on one mentoring relationships. Once a week the organization welcomes 12 high school boys for breakfast and bible study together before school. Ongoing monthly enrichment events are offered for high school and mentored students. The organization partnered with the following nonprofit organizations to better serve students and the community: plywood people, the creatives project, paint love, camp grace, stewart center, raising highly capable kids and pride for parents. In 2017 volunteers served approximately 2,800 hours. The organization hired a part-time employee to work exclusively with mentors, students and schools more effectively. A full time staff social worker was also hired to run the young mothers support group and develop more effective programs and partnerships in the community.
