My daughter joined Bluegrass Youth Ballet at the age of 5. Her first performance was for The Nutcracker just four months after beginning ballet. I was so nervous. What if she falls off the stage? What if she forgets? What if she won't go onstage? Maybe she needs more time. But as I was watching the first rehearsal, I realized the instructor had captured the heart of my little girl and the hearts of fifteen other little girls in the class. They were focused on her every word, they simply absorbed every bit of what she was saying. After rehearsal, the children stormed out of the studio door shouting to their parents "Did you see me!". It was just a rehearsal but it was exhilarating! The show was beautiful and by the end of the evening all of my fears had been washed away with my tears of joy. Its been four years and I still cry after every performance, my daughter and her fifteen friends still storm the door after rehearsal (and class). The good will and gentle nature of Bluegrass Youth Ballet and their instructors has rubbed off on each of the 200 students they teach and each of the parents volunteers who make this the Greatest NonProfit!

Mission: Bluegrass youth ballet enhances lives by providing dance education in a positive environment for all youth through high quality training, innovative performances, and cultural experiences.
Programs: Byb conducted high quality dance education (classical ballet, modern, contemporary and character dance) classes for 280+ students (ages 3 - adult) august 2016-may 2017. Student body comprised of families of various income levels and ethnicities (50% white, 16. 7% african-american, 15. 2% hispanic, 16. 7% asian, 1. 4% with disability)
summer programs: 4 weeks in july 2016 of "summer intensive workshop" (ages 8 - 20). 3 weeks of "fairy tale camp" (ages 3-6) in june of 2016 as well as 3 weeks of evening classes offered in creative movement, pre-ballet, ballet/pointe technique, adult ballet (ages 3 - adult).
bluegrass youth ballet had three performances during the fiscal year 16-17. "nightingale" was performed in november of 2016, three public performances and three school performances. "the nutcracker" in one act was performed in december 2016. We had two public performances and one school show. "little mermaid" was performed in may of 2017. Two public shows and one school show were presented. Performances are for private, public, homeschool children and the general public. Tickets for each show range from $12-$18; and school show tickets are $5 each. Byb performed to roughly 8,484 audience members.
