Mission: To educate the public about climatology
Programs: The organization hosted over 400 formal educational programs and 128 individuals attended in depth tours. We had a total of 651 adult general tours and 792 youth general tours. We had over 2229 youth attend programs and over 1250 adults attend programs. There were 43 kite making workshops, 66 weather watching programs, 38 guided hikes, 37 observatory exploration programs and 4 kinds of tours for the public. This is in addition to the free open houses and other free admission events. The total audience served was over 1,900 adults and over 3,000 youth. The summer and school year intern programs continue to expand.
the women in natural sciences (wins) program continues to serve a wide range of girls and young women ages 7 to 27. We have expanded our outreach and programming for girl scouts, big sister and other agencies serving girls. We are collaborating with the museum institute for teaching science to train observatory educators, provide teacher training workshops at the observatory and to do outreach programs to train teachers and informal educators with tools and techniques to improve weather and climate education.
conducted 16th annual southern new england weather conference attended by approximately 200 scientists, teachers and weather enthusiasts. The full-day program featured nationally known meteorologists and climatologists as presenters.
