Causes: Blood Banks, Health
Mission: The organization is a regional blood bank. It draws blood from an all volunteer donor base and provides the blood and blood products to the health care facilities it serves.
Programs: During 2017, blood assurance interviewed 104,000 individuals to support its life saving mission of providing blood and blood products to the communities it serves. From these donor interactions, the company produced 108,000 units of blood components that were provided to the approximately 70 health care facilities in the 51 counties served in tennessee, georgia, alabama, north carolina and virginia. Each day 550+ donors must be seen in order to collect enough product to supply its customers. This is accomplished by a combination of fixed locations (16) and mobile buses (13) that allow an all-volunteer donor base to insure blood products are available for patients in their time of need. In addition, the company (continued on schedule o) provides special laboratory consultation and patient care services to this same health care customer base. For 2017, over 2,500 of these services were provided to the health care community. An additional part of its life saving mission is recruiting bone marrow donors for the "be the match" program registry.
