Mission: Blackburn Center advocates for the rights of all individuals to live free from domestic and sexual violence and other forms of violence by eliminating root causes and providing for the well-being and safety of survivors/victims.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Annually, Blackburn Center reaches more than 3,500 individuals with client services and 15,000 individuals through education and primary prevention programming. Over 3,000 calls were answered on the hotline and we provided safe shelter for over 200 women and their children.

Programs: 24-hour hotline, Counseling, Support Groups. Medical advocacy/accompaniment at hospital emergency rooms. Legal advocacy/accompaniment at PFA hearings, District Justice hearings, and trials. Therapy for sexual assault victims. Emergency shelter for domestic violence victims and their dependent children. Student awareness programs in Westmoreland County schools, preschool through 12th grade, and area colleges. Community education programs including speakers for organizations and community groups. In-service trainings for police, medical personnel, teachers, counselors, social workers and other professionals.
