Black Girls Build, INC is the organization every woman needs to be a part of, she just doesn’t know yet. I stumbled upon one of the workshops on social media and decided to try it out. I’d never touched a power tool prior to the workshop I took in June. Here it is October and not only do I own multiple tools, I know how their proper uses AND to operate them safely. From a SINGLE workshop, I gained the following:-exposure and insight into all things construction from professionals in the field -a mentor ship with the workshop’s instructor-confidence to tackle projects as a new homeowner-a new hobby in woodworking! I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up, BUT I’m so thankful I did. I’ve returned as both a volunteer for former workshops I attended and as a participant in the floor laying workshop. I will admit that I’ve struggled to find a welcoming community since relocating to St. Louis, but I KNOW I've found a home in BGB. JC welcomed me with open arms and continues to answer ALL of my questions with the ultimate patience, even months after the workshop. She teaches with grace and assures all participants are comfortable at all times. It’s not every day you find something like BGB or someone like JC. If I could give more than 5 stars, I most certainly would, without hesitation! BGB is doing a wonderful thing in St. Louis. Take the workshop and thank me later.

I love the fact there's a sisterhood at BGB. Friendships really do form. I had a great experience learning a new skill and hobby. I also went to the next workshop. I had learned to lay floors with Leo and that was great as well. Very nice group of intelligent women in the construction industry.

Great organization. I appreciate the time spent to teach females construction. I was extremely afraid to use some of the tools but with the safety class that BGB offered, I actually purchased a few of those tools after the class. The one-on-one was very beneficial and I love the outcome of our projects: bench, cat bed and numerous picture frames. JC reaches out for donations so that the unfortunate will be able to attend without worrying about passing up an opportunity to learn a new trade. The story behind the reason for the workshops are a blessing in the making. I not only support black business but I’m a female as well so I stand behind black females learning construction. Way to go BGB. You rock in my eyes.

Black girls build is a great non profit organization. They help kids learn the fundamentals of do it yourself workshops that will help them for a lifetime. This organization helps build confidence, relieve stress and is great way for kids to see the options available with construction. Great opportunities for our youth!
