Mission: To provide shelter to homeless families
Programs: The coalition provides short term emergency housing and a rapid rehousing program for the homeless through thatcher house. In addition to affordable rents, residents also receive case management, life skills education, employment readiness skills and personal enrichment activities. The coalition served a total of 420 clients in fiscal year 2014.
the coalition provides overnight first come/first served emergency shelter through the good shepherd warming shelter. This program is funded largely through state grants and contributions raised through fundraising.
the mccall house transitional apartments contain four units which provide transitional housing for the homeless. Residents work with skilled case managers to move toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency. Program participants are able to stay in these apartments for up to two years.
the coalition worked with the vermont department of corrections by reserving some units for those who remained incarcerated due to lack of housing. The coalition served this population by case management and other services to help them become successful members of our community. This program was terminated as of 12/31/13 when their grant from the vermont department of corrections was not renewed.
