Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs
Mission: Sound discipline empowers educators, parents and caregivers to create respectful, equitable communities in which all children thrive.
Programs: Positive discipline in the classroom: sound discipline offers our trauma informed positive discipline training for k-12 educators in school sponsored and participant sponsored settings. Sound discipline offered 28 full trainings (683 educators) and many partial and supplemental trainings. In addition, sound discipline supported 8 schools using the whole school model with ongoing training for the entire staff. Sound discipline trained over 500 educators serving about 10,000 students.
data teams & consulting: providing coaching and training to school discipline data teams. Teams used school level discipline data and monitored and evaluated trauma informed interventions. Also provided consultation for working with students in each school with the most challenging behaviors using a trauma-informed, strengths based approach. Provided coaching/data team training for 28 schools representing approximately 1200 educators, 16,000 students.
trauma informed practices training: provided training in practical tools for building resilience for educators and community members in washington, idaho and oregon. The team offered 95 separate trainings serving 3,607 educators and community members.
