Causes: Public & Societal Benefit
Mission: To promote conferences, assist visitors within the city and be a preferred travel destination in west virginia. Moreover, to encourage tourism in the city of beckley and raleigh county in west virginia.
Programs: Per senate bill number 178, passed march 10, 2007; the city of beckley and raleigh county commission issue checks from the 6% hotel/motel tax that is generated. The hotel/motel tax from the county and city are deposited into the beckley-raleigh county account on a monthly basis. 90% of this money goes to the southern west virginia convention and visitors bureau which also promotes tourism in southern west virginia. But, 10% of this money is allocated to promote tourism in raleigh county and the city of beckley exclusively.
