Mission: The Beaumont Music Commission, founded in 1923, by an act of the Beaumont City Council, was created to enrich the lives of the residents of the city by fostering appreciation of music. Since its inception, it has grown to become a cultural organization promoting an awareness of what constitutes "good music" for the entire Southeast Texas region. BMC accomplishes this task primarily through the production of an annual Artist Series, bringing the finest possible musical performers, music productions, and other music-based attractions to Beaumont, which its resources will allow. Furthermore, it promotes education outreach programs that expose school children to quality musical experiences. The Commission also works in cooperation with other cultural arts and humanities organizations in the region to promote an appreciation for the musical arts. Music is an essential element in the quality of life for people regardless of geographic location, cultural awareness, and ethnic or social background. For this reason the Beaumont Music Commission pledges its human and economic resources to the task of promoting a broad understanding of the importance of music in the lives of people, and in helping those people develop an awareness and appreciation for good music.
