Mission: The Beaufort County Partnership for Children, funded in 1998, administers Governor Hunt's 1993 initiative, Smart Start, to help all our children to enter school healthy and ready to succeed. Its uniqueness stems from the fact that it receives both state and private funding in order to collaborate with local agencies and organizations that best know what our Beaufort County children and their families need to ensure success. A volunteer board, comprised of members of human service agencies and organizations, the private sector, faith community, the child care community, and parents determine priority objectives and funding levels for service delivery.
