Beans and Rice is a great organiztion!! They are very flexible with schedules, and serving the community with them is wonderful. Anyone who wants to enjoy doing community service needs to join Beans and Rice! They have also given me many opportunities that I may have never had the chance to experience!

While any job has its days of frustration and demand, my overall experience at this job has been terrific. I have been given a lot of flexibility and freedom to serve my local community to the best of my own personal ability. I would recommend this job to anyone who wants to gain experience in self-management, working with youth, and networking.

I worked for Beans and Rice, Inc as an AmeriCorps State member for one year. I had a great experience working as an after school tutor. I was given the freedom to learn and grow in my job. My fellow staff was very supportive and always helpful. I've seen great results in what this organization does in the community.

I had an excellent experience as an AmeriCorps Member with Beans and Rice, Inc. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and willing to work with you on your experience and continued education. The work that I did working with the afterschool education program was very rewarding and I felt extremely connected with the community and other organizations as a result of this experience. I left this position with an increased awareness of how to work with both youth and volunteersand an appreciation for the hard work and energy that goes into all the programs provided by a non-profit organization.

The executive director in Radford has a reputation as being a bit of a pill, and they don't necessarily treat their volunteers well, nor their partners, nor even are they always respectful of those they serve.... Certain other established non-profits decline to partner with them. I would not recommend participating with this organization.
