When I first began volunteering at the Baltimore Humane Society, I was amazed at the care and professionalism of the staff. They seem to know each animal's likes and dislikes, their personalities, their needs and how best to show them love. I have been returning several times weekly, to assist in socializing the animals and to get my "animal fix".
This group is SO worthy. Each animal is cared for and loved.
We went to one other place before the Baltimore Humane Society and had not heard back from them. The staff here is excellent. They stayed in touch with us giving us updates and helped us find the perfect dog. We could not ask for more. You can tell the animals are very well cared for. Our girl has an amazing personality. They have had over 1000 adoptions this year and that's amazing. I love being able to give a loving dog what she deserves, a loving home. The staff here is very thorough and provides extra training and help if needed. We got multiple packets of information on every possible problem we may run into and a complete history on our pooch. They really go above and beyond for our furry little friends. I can't thank them enough.
Went to pet finder, filled out forms for dozen of pet rescues. BHS was the only one to returned my calls. Found a beautiful beagle. Everyone is nice, the place very clean. These people cannot do any better. There prices are much better than the other places. Thanks so much.
I started out as a foster for the Baltimore Humane Society (BHS). The foster program is excellent for anyone unsure about a specific pet and / or being ready to adopt. BHS boarded my senior foster cat when I traveled to see my family on holidays. Their staff veterinarian was excellent in educating me on the cat's chronic conditions. The facilities are very clean, modern, and welcoming. After settling in my first home as an owner and receiving a job promotion, I decided to adopt my foster cat. I had recommended BHS to friends, family, and strangers without question. Please consider the senior cats & dogs first!
Baltimore Humane Society (BHS) staff genuinely cares for the well being of the animals, and promote an atmosphere of kindness and respect, which is then shared among volunteers.
BHS goes above and beyond to keep animals well socialzed and to increase adoption success rate.
Being part of this special community is extremely rewarding and energizing.
Thank you BHS!
Just two weeks ago we adopted our sweet Rosie from the Baltimore Humane Society. BHS was such a lovely surprise, tucked away in a beautiful spot. The dogs had ample kennel space with an area for privacy/rest and their own outdoor access. The volunteers were very helpful and honest and we were provided with all the information available about our girl. They made sure to do a step by step introduction between our dogs to be sure it would be a successful match. It was nice to see different dogs spending time out of their kennels and hanging out with the staff in different areas.
Love this place! We got our pitbull mix, Lulu, 7 years ago. She had been at the Humane Society for almost a year, I believe she had a litter of puppies seven months prior to us adopting her. She looked well taken care of and you could tell that the staff loved her. They even gave us a free toothbrush for Lulu . One year after we adopted her I gave birth to twin boys. They grew to love her and she love them. Lulu was one of the best dogs I have ever saved. And she saved us. We laid her to rest earlier this year after she was diagnosed with lung Cancer. We plan to go back to the Baltimore Humane Society to save another soon. We moved to Howard County but due to our experience with Baltimore Humane Society, that is where we will go .
A beautiful shelter with the interest of animals at heart. Dog kennels have indoor and outdoor space dogs choose from and several large runs/play areas for enrichment! Easy to work with, does tons of community events, could help so many more animals with additional funds!!
They are the first ones to have a pet food bank, thru this program they help the community to keep their beloved pets at home and avoid more animals to be surrendered at shelters when their owners are facing difficult economic times, such a wonderful program
I am a volunteer at the Baltimore Humane Society. They do amazing work taking care of the animals at their shelter and finding homes for the animals. It is a great place to volunteer.
I've been involved with the Baltimore Humane Society (BHS)for about 3 years. My children participate in their family/community events, we collect food/monetary donations for the animals, read to the animals, and participate in their fantastic educational programs. BHS is a great place and provides wonderful family friendly opportunities to give back and help animals in need.
A mother cat brought her four newborn kittens to our apt. patio. I called the Baltimore Humane Society to find out what to do. In a matter of minutes they had not only, given me information, they managed to provide such a feeling for love of animals that I felt that this little family could not be in better hands. They also indulged me in the progress of the kittens growth and when they could be adopted, BUT ALSO, because the mother was feral, and not adoptable they also spayed her and THEN called the apt. development to ask if she could be returned to the property because she was comfortable there. This organization is THE BEST, THE MOST HUMANE, and loving organization for animals that is possible. We are so fortunate at the hard work they do every day to make the lives of animals as positive as can be.
A great place to adopt and to have the children read to the animals. I have not met a better group of people dedicated to these animals.
17 years ago we adopted Sadie, although she has left us. She was the best dog ever. The adoption counselor Sandy was wonderful, We will never forget the Humane Society or Sadie.
I found a mother cat nursing her 3 month old kitten on a hot sidewalk near my home and after gaining their trust, I could see that Mommy was about to have yet another litter outdoors. I called the Baltimore Humane Society (BHS) and was told to bring Mommy over (I decided to keep her beautiful kitten). They put Mommy with a wonderful foster, of which they have many, and 5 days later, Mommy gave birth to 5 beautiful kittens. Had BHS not taken her in, there would have been 5 more strays running the streets without a home. Happy ending is all 5 kittens, plus Mommy were adopted! Baltimore County is so lucky to have such a wonderful shelter! I have attached a picture of the kitten before he became a member of our family!
All the people at the Baltimore Humane Society are great. I got my dog Daisy from them just 3 days ago and we are already becoming best friends. I had such a positive experience during the adoption process. They took time to explain everything, and you can really tell they care about the welfare of the animals they care for. From the kennel staff to the adoption staff they were all wonderful and very good at their jobs. Thanks to them for their dedication to saving animals and finding them good homes and a second chance at a happy life..
I have adopted , fostered (and failed), and volunteered at the Baltimore Humane Society. It is a wonderful place full of caring people who will go above and beyond. I've always been impressed with all the creative programs they have. I love that they have children come in and read to the animals. I've been there to see how happy this makes the children. I believe it's a good thing for all involved. The staff works hard to get to know each animal individually. Any special needs are addressed with great care. This is place that not only helps the fur babies but also the community. Volunteering at the Humane Society has been a great for my soul. It's a special place that's grounded in love. I'm thankful to be a part of something so great.
The Baltimore Humane Society is a no kill shelter! They truly care for each and every animal that they take in. They get to know the animals so that when they are adopted they know they are going to the right home. They also have an amazing volunteer program and so many ways that someone can help out even if it's not time. Check out their Facebook page to learn more and see who's looking for a forever home.
