Mission: Bailey house's mission is to help transform the lives of people with or at risk of hiv/aids or other chronic illnesses through housing, health services and community.
Programs: Supportive housing: the supportive housing program provided permanent housing to 365 low-income, formerly homeless individuals and families living with hiv/aids in manhattan, brooklyn, queens and the bronx through scatter site apartments and two congregate residences. The program also helps ensure that residents are connected to healthcare and that they receive counseling and workshops focused on health education housing-related skills development. Among our programs include project first, which places 27 formerly incarcerated people living with hiv/aids in permanent housing and assists 60 more with housing placement services. The recidivism rate of clients in the program is far below the national average. Our stars program provides housing for 55 formerly homeless and lgbt young adults living with hiv/aids, 100% of whom become connected to healthcare and benefits to improve their health outcomes and socio-economic status.
community services: bailey house offers health, housing, and food/nutrition programs to more than 5,000 new yorkers each year, reaching thousands more through a variety of community outreach efforts. Through our range of services, we address the myriad needs of our incredibly diverse client population. Our community services programs are consolidated within the rand harlan center for housing, wellness, and community, which is our multi-service community center in east harlem that offers confidential, bilingual drop-in services to individuals affected by hiv/aids and other chronic illnesses, homelessness, food insecurity, trauma, substance use, and mental illness. These programs encompass a variety of services designed to support clients, ranging from access to and retention in medical and specialty care through medical case management to mental health and substance use treatment at our on-site licensed clinics. Bailey house's groundbreaking housing programs provide housing and housing placement to about 660 men, women, and children yearly and includes 415 units of supportive housing, as well as about 145 housing placements per year. Our housing programs encompasses scatter-site housing, congregate permanent supportive housing, rental assistance, emergency housing, and housing placement assistance.
