AWARE INC

Results: In 2013-14 AWARE provides 6,135 nights of shelter to 189 females, 166 homeless children and 2 male survivors of domestic violence. We provided free counseling to 363 survivors, answered 1,287 crisis hotline calls and provided 4,397 referrals for support services.

Programs: Domestic violence shelter and services the domestic violence program provides empowering resources that help victims of domestic and sexual violence live violence-free lives. Aware is able to assist victims through programs and services that include shelter services, 24 hour crisis support line, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy, case management, and various groups and programs. Aware utilitizes voluteers to help provide services to survivors, their family members and friends. The 24 hour crisis support line was staffed by volunteers for approximately 2,200 hours for the last fiscal year.

sexual assualt services aware provides services such as counseling, group work, and children's activities. Advocates work to empower survivors with resources to function emotionally, economically, and safely within the community. Aware provides a sexual assault nurse examiner to offer compassionate medical care at no cost.

transitional housing aware assists domestic, sexual assault, and/or stalking violence survivors in bridging the gap between leaving their violent situation and creating an independent, violent-free life for themselves and their children. Clients undergo extensive voluntary case management to work on their self- identified goals, which include, but are not limited to seeking employment, obtaining higher education, and/or training.
