Mission: Autism Support Community (ASC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides low to no cost training, special education advocacy, and inclusive programs to families requiring Autism Services. Research has shown that intervention through special education services increases the level of independence and opportunities available to individuals on the Autism spectrum. ASC believes that every special needs student has the right to inclusive opportunities, a safe environment, and a program that provides meaningful benefit. Special education legal knowledge is necessary to make this happen and should be universally accessible regardless of socioeconomic status.
Target demographics: youth
Direct beneficiaries per year: provided services to 750 individuals
Geographic areas served: special education advocacy and bully prevention
Programs: low to no cost special education advocacy services, bully prevention training, parent education training and support
Working for ASC is one of my most fulfilling experiences. The ability to help families get the services they need and watching their kids blossom is a lifelong gift. Everyone that I meet has been touched in some way by Autism through family and friends. They will tell you how hard it is to learn to navigate the system. ASC is doing its part to be there to support those families.
