I have been serving on the Board of Directors of the Auburn InterFaith Food Closet (AIFC) off & on since 2006, and I can say from firsthand experience that it is a well-run, highly efficient non-profit organization. Since it is staffed & led by all un-paid volunteers, its administrative costs (rent, utilities, supplies) are extremely low: roughly 8%. That means that 92 cents out of every one dollar goes directly to food for local clients and families who are hungry. We get some of our food donations from a Stuff A Bus food drive twice a year, when we stand outside local supermarkets & hand-out flyers asking for specific types of needed non-perishable food. One afternoon a gentleman came out of the store & gave me two large bags full of groceries for the AIFC. His comment: "I received food from the AIFC when I really needed it a few years ago. I'm happy to donate food now to return the favor & pay it forward!"
