Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: Arrm leads the advancement of community-based services that support people with disabilities in their pursuit of meaningful lives.
Programs: Communicationprovided regular communication to members on important issues, developments and best practices in the delivery of services and policy changes on issues affecting services for people with disabilities, including weekly conference calls, regular blog articles and email updates. Developed case study resources on utilizing technology to provide supportive services. Managed a leadership transition with the hiring of a new ceo. Worked with media contacts to bring awareness to local policies restricting housing for people with disabilities.
educationarrm held numerous educational events throughout 2017 engaging 2145 members, 92 non-members and 134 others. Our annual conference yielded 56 exhibitors and 27 sponsors. We had 20 organizations represented and 39 non-member organizations. Our leadership conference included over 230 leaders and 6 speakers. We held a total of 20 trainings in 2017 including information on licensing requirements, partnering with the department of human services as well as wage and hour information from the department of labor and industry. We also held member-only trainings on building person-centered organizations, technology, workforce solutions webinar, positive behavior supports. We held two business and finance forums and engaged ceos and manager of our member organizations. Lastly, we held our annual conference in june and engaged over 700 members and non-members.
advocacydirectly lobbied state agencies and legislators and coordinated with advocates for people with disabilities to develop legislation regarding rate restructuring and person-centered standards for people with disabilities who receive medicaid-funded services. Participated in a coalition of advocates, caregivers, service recipients and providers to increase peoples and provider's rates and employee compensation for 90,000 caregivers across the state to enhance the quality of care for elderly and disabled service recipients. Directly lobbied legislators, staff in the governor's office and state agencies, concerning bills related to funding, funding systems, regulatory and quality of care issues - including the preparation of and responses to legislative language. We engaged over 1000 people in our arrm day at the capital.
