Programs: The awid international forum is both a conference and a call to action. The largest recurring event of its kind, the forum brings together close to 2,000 women's rights leaders and activists from around the world to strategize, network, celebrate, and learn in a highly charged atmosphere that fosters deep discussions and sustained personal and professional growth.
women's human rights defenders ("whrd") is a program that responds to the escalation of violence and attacks on women's human rights defenders ("whrds") which has brought greater urgency to the need to develop more effective and gender-sensitive systems of responding, tracking and following up on these cases, as well as increased access to protection mechanisms, justice, and security for whrds experiencing such violence. The organization and allies are working with whrds in mesoamerica, the middle east, and north africa by engaging in campaigns to respond to the alarming increase in violence against women in their regions.
challenging religious fundamentalisms ("cf") is the program that contributes to greater strategic thinking, dialogue and advocacy on religious fundamentalisms by womens rights organizations and movements across regions and religions. It aims to foster a deeper and greater shared understanding of the way fundamentalist projects work, grow and undermine women's rights, and share strategies to resist and challenge religious fundamentalisms.
