Mission: The organization's mission is to strengthen the voice, impact and influence of women's rights advocates, organizations ana movements internationally to effectively aavance the rights of women.
Results: AWID is the only international feminist membership organization, with members in all regions of the world. And every three years, we organize the largest global women’s rights conference, providing a critical platform to find collective solutions to advance gender equality and women’s rights. We also work collaboratively and use our positioning to open spaces for women’s organizations and movements to participate in key policy-making venues at the global level.
Target demographics: AWID works to ensure that the specific priorities and voices of young women are strongly represented in all our initiatives.
Geographic areas served: Increasingly diverse and global-minded in our staffing, AWID staff work out of our Toronto, Cape Town or Mexico City offices, while our translators, moderators of our e-newsletters and other staff are located everywhere from Lomé to Rosario and from Shanghai to Bangalore.
Programs: AWID’s work is structured through multi-year programs known as Strategic Initiatives. Each strategic initiative includes a range of activities from membership consultations and surveys, primary research and dialogues with policy makers (including targeted advocacy) to capacity building institutes, regional networking and information dissemination.
